OSHA 30 Hour Construction Training

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for their employees.

The OSHA 30-hour Construction Training program offers a thorough review of OSHA procedures, policies, and standards. This course provides participants with a solid understanding of construction safety and health principles, with a focus on the most hazardous areas as defined by OSHA standards and regulations. Students will receive free study guides and handbooks to aid their learning.

Originally designed primarily for supervisors, OSHA 30 training has become essential for many construction workers due to the introduction of Local Law 196. This training helps students locate and understand OSHA standards in 29 CFR, identify accident and fatality causes in hazardous worksite areas, suggest abatement techniques, and gain knowledge about construction processes, materials, and equipment.

OSHA Training NYC DOB Requirement (Local Law 196)

Local Law 196 has established new training requirements for demolition and construction workers in New York City’s five boroughs. By December 1, 2019, workers were required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of training, while supervisors needed 62 hours. Additionally, individuals must obtain the appropriate Site Safety Training (SST) card to verify their training completion.

As of September 1, 2020, workers must complete a total of 40 hours of training, which includes an 8-hour Fall Prevention course and a 2-hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness course.

CEU Requirements

1. 100% attendance for the OSHA 30 Certification
2. Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
3. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)
4. Completion of required pre-and post-quiz assessment
5. As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination
6. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)
